Description
Computer Aid, Inc. (CAI) is an Information Technology Consulting Firm specializing in application development and managed maintenance support services for Fortune 1000 companies.


CAI has an immediate need for Desktop Technical Support. Position will be located in New Orleans, LA. This will be for contract engagement of 18 months.

Position Description/Responsibilities

Tasks (3 experience levels needed)

Tier 1 - Basic Network Work like Inspections & Miscellaneous Tasks
Tier 2 - MS/Windows Server, Domain Administration, Software Installs
Tier 3 - Complex Network & Server Administration and Troubleshooting

Tier 1: Basic Network Work
Main Cross Connect , MCC (also known as MDF):
o For each PC and printer, are there sufficient A/C electrical outlets to plug into.
o Plug in each PC and printer's data and power cables. Verify that they can power up and are now working.
o Where necessary in each classroom, lab and administrative office, move the computer desks around within the same floor or room to accommodate power and network connectivity. Connect or disconnect computers from desks to relocate within a floor as necessary
o Where necessary in each classroom, lab, and administrative office, run Ethernet Cat5e UTP cables from data drops on the wall to each computer in that room, or install a small unmanaged Ethernet switch in the room and run Ethernet Cat5e UTP cables from the Ethernet switch to each PC in the room.
o Where necessary, install electrical power strips to the computer desks
&bullDaisy chain the power strip for every 3-4 computer desks together as necessary.
o Configure each PC to login and join the RSD domain.
o Configure the network printers with IP addresses to join the RSD domain;
o Train teachers how to use their laptops, login with their user id, get to their email, add shortcuts, and answer questions on how to get started.
o Add printers to desktop user profile.
o Migrate user documents from local profile to network profile.
o Inventory equipment: classrooms, labs, offices, MCCs, ICCs, Cafeteria(s), etc.
o Diagram, via VISIO, and/or paper locations of jacks, ICCs, MCCs, etc.

Tier 2: MS/Windows, Domain Administration, Software Installs
o Configure the print server and add printers to the print server
o Configure the portable laptops in that room to login to the RSD domain
o For faculty and administrator offices only, login to the State MS/Outlook email system and verify that email is working properly.
o Keep detailed written logs of the work performed as well as work still needed in each classroom, lab, and administrative office.
o Server & Desktop Software - Install and configure the various standard desktop software solutions that were selected for the RSD schools.

Tier 3: Complex Network and Server Administration:
o Install, analyze and resolve complex server problems and other issues.
o Analyze and resolve complex network switching, routing, TCPIP etc. problems and other issues.
o Install access points as directed.

At least 2 years experience.
Work Environment
State Government, Onsite Monday-Friday, 8-5PM
