Description
Provides administrative, end-user and/or paraprofessional technical computing support/assistance to ACS' project, program, and/or client end-users. The assistant is a non-exempt paraprofessional who possesses basic knowledge about computing (mainframe, PCs and/or network environments), processes and/or procedures. Knowledge is normally acquired through on-the-job and/or vocational education. Position is typically used as: developmental level for transition from simple technical tasks to more professional levels; customer service/end-user client support; or administrative project/engineering support. Incumbents are capable of performing a broad range of administrative or basic technical support tasks, referring to established policy and precedent. Technical tasks, when performed, are generally under immediate supervision and/or closely monitored; such tasks are typically routine and/or repetitive in nature, e.g., basic programming/coding.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Compiles data for analysis and reporting and may perform simple analysis.

Responds to client request for data/assistance.

Maintains library of software packages and all related project documentation, tape databases, and electronic media.

Provides S/W releases and back ups and responds to customer requests.

Provides mainframe and/or PC support, i.e., troubleshoots problems by acting as help-desk/hot-line point of first contact for client inquiries and problems.

Provides end-user support for commercial packages used in various computing environments. May provide user training. Performs simple hardware (PC/terminal and peripheral) installation.

Resolves simple operating problems/trouble calls for end-user community to ensure the maintenance and upgrade of servers, gateways, communications equipment, workstations, software and hardware.

Performs simple/routine diagnostics, and/or repair, interfacing with network or other personnel and/or escalating more technical problems as necessary.

A+, Microsoft Experience

Highly motivated - self starter technical aptitude and problem solving skills

Strong oral and written technical and interpersonal communication skills including sensitivity to user community.

Good time management skills and organizational skills.


Associates degree in related field, or equivalent work experience.

1 year Minimum of related computing (documentation control, end-user or technical/administrative support) experience.
