Robert Half Technology is accepting applications for an experienced Desktop and Server Support Technician to join a rapidly growing and successful financial company in Downtown Seattle. This is a contract to permanent position. The Desktop and Server Support Technician will be responsible for supporting small remote and local office desktops. In addition, the Desktop and Server Support Technician will monitor Microsoft Servers, apply security patches, configure and add new users accounts, and run and monitor system backups. The Desktop and Server Support Technician will work closely with a small IT team implementing a new VoIP system and other special projects. This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience beyond desktop support. Our client's IT team is dedicated to train and coach you on new technologies throughout your career. Duties of the Desktop and Server Support Technician include: Provide prompt and excellent customer service. Provide network support and basic network administration. Answer and track help desk calls. Troubleshoot and document PC hardware and software problems. Resolve problems over the phone and at the local office. Perform hardware and software upgrades. Administer tape backup procedureDocument systems, workflow, procedures, and policies. Occasionally work after hours and weekends. Provide on call support for occasional business needs and emergencies. Experience/Skills
Requirements of the Desktop and Server Support Technician position: B.S. in Computer Science or related field. 3+ years experience in Information Technology. Microsoft MCSE or MCP a plus. Experience in Administration and support of Microsoft Windows 2000/XP OS's, Microsoft Office Suite of products, VPN and remote access solutions (VNC, Remote Desktop), Telecommunications, PBX, VoIP, Videoconferencing as well as investment applications such as Advent, Charles River, Bloomberg, Reuters, is a plus. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team. Detail oriented and great organizational skills. Multi-task, prioritize and promptly address the needs of multiple users. Administer Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. In-depth knowledge of network operating systems. Excellent troubleshooting hardware and network skills. Understanding of network topologies and design, TCP/IP, switches, routers, etc. Ability to write detailed technical documents. Maintain physical wiring infrastructure.
