Looking for an experienced and highly motivated Development Manager to lead Java/J2EE based web development projects for clients self service product suite. The ideal candidate will combine strong experience leading all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including project planning, tracking and coordination of the technical development team. In addition, candidates must be highly motivated and must be capable of managing multiple projects and priorities. Candidates must exhibit strong personal organization, communication (verbal and written) and attention to detail. Prior experience as a web/software developer or other experience in delivering web based financial services solutions is preferred.


Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, developers, client analysts, testers and other cross-functional stakeholders to plan, coordinate and manage the design and development process.
- Exhibit a practical and pragmatic understanding of the SDLC, especially as it relates to internet based applications. Candidates must be able to determine standard project steps and key milestones, predict timeline impacts, determine resource availability and coordinate project conflicts.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership and decision making ability.
- Must have experience building and managing to a project plan using MS Project.
- Allocate tasks to team members according to experience and assist managers in the measurement of team performance to ensure that timelines are being met and quality level is high.
- Must be capable of motivating the team and providing guidance, in coordination with technical team management.
- Coordinate and lead project management meetings and status reporting to ensure that projects remain on track and project stakeholders are kept aware of status.
- Track and report on development and testing metrics for each project.
- Review and provide feedback of key project artifacts including business specifications, test plans and scripts, technical designs and implementation guides, etc. Interact with business and testing teams to ensure that the product developed meets defined requirements.
- Ensure project quality by becoming familiar with the system. Regular interaction with the clients application suite is required to review screens, verify high priority bug fixes and determine the quality of development and test work.
- Candidate must exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills. Regular reporting of activities to the management team as well as others. This includes heavy use of MS Word, Excel, Visio, and similar products to create polished and professional documentation that can be shared with clients.
- Position requires supervisory responsibility over a technical development team. Provides direction and management for team member-s career growth and mastery of job responsibilities.
