Description
 
As a member of TLT's (Teaching and Learning Technologies) senior staff, the Director, Learning Spaces will provide the strategic vision and leadership for campus learning spaces, including management of central computing labs, technology in the classroom, mobile labs, and audio and visual services. The Director will manage staff, budget development and monitoring, and communications with faculty and staff about lab support needs. This position will ensure that technologies are in place to support teaching, learning; lead planning activities; and develop policies for support, licensing and sales programs.
 
The Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) unit of Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) supports, empowers, and advances ‎‎the innovative and evolving use of technology to facilitate learning in and beyond the ‎traditional classroom environment. TLT provides ‎and maintains instructional computing ‎laboratories, mobile learning environments, online course management tools such as ‎Blackboard ‎Vista and encourages instructional innovation and dissemination through conferences, digital content development grants, and training.


Experience/Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in an information technology environment.
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
  • At least five years experience ‎at the management level.
  • Experience in planning, development, installation and support of computing hardware and software, including ‎desktop ‎workstations is required.
  • Ability to articulate a long-term vision, operate ‎on a strategic level and be politically aware of the requirements and motivations of faculty, ‎students, customers and vendors.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal ‎communication, collaboration and team building ‎skills‎.
  • Ability to effectively work with faculty and staff at all levels ‎of the organization.
  • Demonstrated management, customer service, problem solving, interpersonal, planning/organizational skills.
  • Broad understanding of MS Windows and MAC operating systems, audio/visual presentation systems, AV operations, computer lab operations, and computer lab administration.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology or Information Technology.
  • Master's degree.
  • Management, supervisory, and/or team leadership experience in a higher education computing environment.
