Job Description

Our client is seeking a Director of Product Management for direct hire position in Greensboro, NC. Candidates for this position must be willing/able to work onsite in Greensboro, NC and must have previous Firearms industry experience.

As a strategic leader within the organization, the Director of Product Management is required to manage and insure the profitability and competitive positioning of company products within the assigned category in the commercial sporting goods market, and to act as a steward to insure the long-term effectiveness of products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This position is responsible for understanding the target market and keeping the product line competitive on both price and features with key responsibility for the profitability of the product line. The ability to develop and produce Strategic Planning documents is required. Must be able to understand financial reporting and prepare and explain financial analysis to measure project performance. Must be able to prepare and deliver presentation materials to senior level management. Must have a solid understanding and grasp of technical concepts as they relate to product design and manufacturing. Requires 30%-40% domestic travel and some international travel may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct and manage all Product Management and New Product Development activities for products.

Develop and Maintain Strategic Plan and Product Road Maps

Develop and Implement Product Launch Plans for New Product Introductions

Direct and Perform Consumer Level Research to Profile Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) Criteria for all Product Segments

Prepare Operational Review Documents for Review with Senior and Executive Management

Develop and Maintain Departmental Budgets

Direct responsibility for Product Line P&L

Maintain and implement competitive strategies

Provide direction for effective product positioning in Marketing Communications Efforts

Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability for the organization

Direct Interface with Planning to drive Demand Forecasting Efforts, focusing on trend analysis, seasonality profiles, and overall product life cycles.

Use available resources to project meaningful and accurate sales forecasts from which Financial performance is gauged

Education and/or Experience

Master's degree or equivalent; four to ten years product marketing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

The client is seeking a candidate who can start immediately. The client prefers local candidates, but is open to out of state candidates and will offer some relocation assistance for the right person. This position carries a base salary and bonus eligibility.
