Description

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a Director of Decision Support.  Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director will manage a staff of two reporting analysts.

 

Loyola Marymount University shares in a rich intellectual heritage fostered by the Jesuit and Marymount educational traditions and founded on social justice and ethical values.  The main 150 acre campus is located in West Los Angeles and supports seven colleges/schools.  Enrollment includes 5,746 undergraduate and 1,899 graduate students.  LMU employs over 2,200 faculty and staff.  The university cherishes its Catholic identity while at the same time welcoming people from diverse social, religious and cultural backgrounds.

 

Institutional effectiveness encompasses assessment, institutional research, decision support, and faculty development and support.  It provides leadership in creating a culture of evidence and continuous improvement. The successful candidate for this newly created position will oversee the development and administration of a campus-wide decision support environment, supported by a business intelligence implementation over a data warehouse. 



Experience/Skills

We are seeking self-starters who are challenged by an opportunity to create and manage a decision support structure.   Demonstrated competency developing vision, priorities and policies for a decision support office is required.  Strategic thinking and a goal orientation are critical to success.  Demonstrated understanding of business intelligence software, data warehousing concepts, and RDBMS concepts is essential.  A familiarity with Enterprise systems and the ability to analyze data requirements is required.  Experience with the Oracle eBusiness Suite and/or the Banner Student Information System is a plus. 

 

The ideal candidate has management experience and the ability to work across disciplines and with diverse groups.  Demonstrated success working collaboratively with administrators, faculty and staff is highly preferred.  A familiarity with the academic enterprise in a university and some understanding of the issues and concepts in higher education is preferred.  Competitive candidates have strong communication skills and will bring experience preparing comprehensive research reports and executive summaries.

 

A bachelor’s degree in information systems, educational technology, computer science or a related field is required.  A master’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of five years experience with information management systems is required as well as experience conducting research or data analyses in an institution of higher learning or other similar setting.
