An international development consulting company that helps governments, businesses, civil society groups, and communities promote meaningful change so people can live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives is hiring a Director of Network Operations for their IT division. Working under contract to U.S. and other foreign aid donors, they design and implement development projects in many of the world’s developing countries..

We are seeking an experienced Director of Network Operations who will be responsible for providing both technical and managerial leadership to the Network Operations team. The Network Operations Director will primarily focus on managing day-to-day network infrastructure operations, network infrastructure projects, and providing leadership to a team of Network Engineers. This opportunity is a hands-on technical management position with a full range of responsibilities including all aspects of network planning, implementation, coordination and management. The director will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that both the strategic and tactical directions for IT are aligned with the overall objectives and strategies of the organization. He/she will work with the leadership team to prioritize IT integration projects, clearly defining the return on investment based on business value and cost. Additionally, he/she will manage department projects, budgets and will be responsible for the hiring, training, motivation and performance evaluation of assigned employees. The right candidate will be a creative, self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills. This position will be based in Washington, DC, but candidate must also have ability to travel to various locations.

Experience/Skills
• Bachelors' degree in computer science or related field with more than 10 years of network and systems design, implementation and technical support experience required; master's degree preferred.
• Experience managing, implementing and securing Cisco based network infrastructure required.
• Experience managing and implementing SAN storage systems.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery and disaster preparedness.
• Hands on experience managing an Exchange based email infrastructure, including managing mailboxes, backups, and end user issues and Windows client/server operating systems experience.
• Experience managing, securing and monitoring remote access to network resources from various locations around the world.
• Experience in management and cross-functional project management
• Excellent analytic problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Permanent U.S. work authorization required
