One of our best clients, located in Pulaski, TN is seeking a talented IT professional for the position of Director of Product Development.

The Director of Product Development is an important part of the team responsible for designing, building, testing and supporting the software products developed within a defined business unit.

Job Responsibilities
  • The Director is responsible for development and execution of the strategic product development plan for the company Rating.
  • Responsible for the on-going improvements to the methods, processes, and techniques of the Development group.
  • Will work with the other corporate Development Managers to insure consistent methodologies across the enterprise.
  • Insures and expresses the ability to work as part of a team of senior management, peers, and subordinates, as well as effectively in a constantly changing fast-paced environment.
  • Personally involved in development and architecture strategies, software development life cycle processes, custom development planning and execution, QA processes and procedures.
  • Develops and establishes operational policies within software development.
  • Responsible for developing and administering budgets, schedules, and performance standards for the Product Development organization.
  • Accurately manage project fulfillment timelines to meet cost, quality, schedules and deliverables.
  • Work with Product Management to produce an achievable time line for each application release and implement effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
  • Synchronize the other voices of the software development team by managing projects and ensuring they have the resources and capabilities for success.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work of others.
  • Responsible for Performance Management from development of department goals and objectives, evaluating employee performance, and assisting in development plans of the development team.
Professional and Technical Competencies

  • Experience and knowledge with the product software development life cycle processes.
  • Custom development planning and execution, QA processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Principles and Methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted software engineering practices and languages: VB.net, XML, Web Scripting, C#

      Education Requirements
      • Undergraduate degree in related technical discipline
      Experience
      • Minimum of 10 years experience in design and development of large business applications, including a minimum of 2 years in a management position.
      • Experience with web-based application development and design.
      • Prior experience working with SDLC methodologies
      • A proven track record of developing projects on time and budget.
      • Experience managing off-shore development functions is a plus;
      • Insurance industry knowledge a plus
