Director of Software Development - Direct THIS!
Our client, in the Knoxville, TN area, is looking for an experienced Director of Software Development to oversee the development of standards for software systems applications and providing technical assistance to facilitate planning and directing the design, installation, modification, and operation of information systems.

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
Plans, directs, and controls the systems development team.
Responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources.
Team responsibilities include research, design, development, and testing of software for back end production including traffic, search, asset management and distribution.
Setting operational specifications and formulating and analyzing software requirements.
Manages the design, development, testing and deployment of backend production applications supporting broadcast and broadband operations.
Manage applications systems analysis and programming, information systems training, and operating systems analysis and programming.
Oversees applications systems analysis, database management, programming activities, configuration capacity planning, software products evaluation, and systems performance analysis and optimization.
Prepares activity and progress reports regarding applications systems analysis and programming, cost and time estimates for current and proposed projects and long and short range plans for application selection, software systems development, systems maintenance, production activities or for necessary support resources.
Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software, and technical services to meet technical specifications.
Manages, assesses performance, mentors, and balance workloads of individuals assigned to manager.df-tc

Experience/Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent education and experience) required.
10+ years of demonstrated experience in IT analysis/design/development and testing disciplines.
7 years SDLC experience working in a formal lifecycle development environment desired.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Microsoft Project Server, and IDE software.
Should be seasoned professional with strong management skills and proven track record of providing direction/leadership to others.
Must be effective communicator and problem-solver; requires innovation in making continuous process improvement to existing analytic methods/techniques.
Strong technical background in systems development, database management and lifecycle methodologies.
Extensive project management experience and proven track record managing a development organization.
In-depth knowledge of traffic, sales management, programming, content management systems and related business processes.
Previous experience with digital asset management systems, VOD and Broadband systems and services are a plus.
