Permanent Position: Salary $105-$129.5K compensation based on experience + 20% annual bonus at target

xScion Solutions, LLC is a leading IT professional services firm in the Washington, DC area supporting firms with their consulting and permanent hiring needs. We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Testing for a large company in the healthcare insurance industry.

NOTE: Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area and have US work authorization - US Citizenship, Green Card . No exceptions.

The Director of Testing will be responsible for approximately 26 testers and 4 automation/performance tuning/environmental support IT people. The Director will be leading the group from a manual testing environment to an automated testing environment. There are both robust mainframe (Cobol, CICS, DB2, VSAM) applications and web (Java/J2EE, Oracle, Unix). Right now approx. half the testing is for mainframe applications such as enrollment and claims processing. The web application side will be growing.

The Director of Testing will work closely with other IT departments to establish and implement SDLC processes including requirements tracability matrix. The incumbent must be focused on delivering quality software in a process oriented, yet realistic environment.

The incumbent must have strong customer service orientation, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to motivate and persuade others. This individual must possess excellent strategic thinking and planning skills and the ability to develop and implement departmental plans. Additionally, the incumbent must have the ability to identify priorities and achieve results with a sense of urgency and give honest straight forward opinions on related issues. As a leader, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate equal amounts of results orientation, ability to lead people, and be willing to contribute ideas/opinions and take risks, where appropriate. As a Director, the incumbent should strive to develop and train staff, encourage a team approach and cross-functional teamwork to serve the best interests of the client and the organization.

Required skills and experience:

7+ years of management experience with at least 4 in Testing
Experience introducing automated testing into a manual testing environment
Experience in all facets of testing including functional, regression, performance, unit, end-to-end, etc.
Full SDLC experience
Experience in mainframe and web testing environments
Experience leading a team through major changes
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Advanced degree preferred.df-tc
