Job Description:
TEMPORARY POSITION: .NET Developer

The preferred candidate will support CDC's Office of Workforce and Career Development (OWCD) and will be involved in all phases of web development for OWCD, from evaluation, analysis and design to development and subsequently to ongoing maintenance/support for OWCD web-based systems and websites.

Responsibilities will include working with the customer to determine functionality needs, development and potential prototyping, documentation, interfacing with other development efforts, project coordination, and implementation.

Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
1. Development and programming responsibilities for new functionality or modifications to existing systems and other supporting applications.
2. Revisions and rewrites of existing systems and web sites and the underlying database tables and stored procedures.
3. Planning, development and programming responsibilities to ensure successful transition of all or portions of legacy systems to new systems.
4. Programming adjustments as necessary to ensure system performance and accuracy.
5. Demonstration of systems to workgroups as requested.
6. Programming new features, as instructed, based on user and project manager input.
7. Database administration:
a. performance analysis and tuning
b. troubleshooting of SQL Server problems
8. Defect correction and appropriate regression testing of the application.
9. Development and testing of application and integration of functionality as needed to ensure compliance with CDC and HHS standards.
10. Assisting OWCD staff with web development procedures, creation of web pages and other development as needed.
11. Working with other IT staff members as needed for modifications to databases and applications.

Job Requirements:
Mid to senior level programming skills in the following technologies: C#, ASP.Net, ASP, Ms Visual Studio.Net, ADO, DHTML, HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, XML, Transact SQL, Stored Procedures, CSS, and Ms Visual Interdev 6.0.
Working knowledge of operating systems and web server administration - Windows 2000/NT and IIS Web Server, specifically.
Must have 3 or more years of experience and be able to provide code samples from programming work.
Educational Requirements:
BS/BA required, MS/MA desired, [Major: Computer Science or related]
6 + Years of experience in lieu of degree
Significant experience developing web applications with a database interface, specifically SQL Server 2000.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience working with a formal software development process.
Additional Desired Skills/Pluses:
Experience in the Design/Development of web-based systems and websites for the Public Health or Health Care Industries.
Experience with Section 508 compliance.
