DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Drafting Technician
The primary function of the Drafting Technician is to convert conceptual designs of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems into formal dimensioned drawings and material specifications that can be manufactured for developmental and production requirements. The position shall report directly to a Senior Engineer or the Engineering Manager.

REQUIREMENTS
The specific functions of the position include the following:

Specific Functions

? Create CAD drawings of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components from simple sketches and verbal descriptions of conceptual designs.
? Develop as-built drawings of prototype parts, convert these drawings into CAD format, select appropriate materials and develop bills of material as needed.
? Oversee/monitor and work with shop, the fabrication of and fabricate prototype assemblies, conduct preliminary evaluation of form and function and summarize characteristics in written reports.
? Other similar duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

? Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in design, fabrication, creation of CAD drawings, selecting and specifying materials and other equivalent types of functions in both a developmental and production environment.
? Working knowledge and at least 3 years experience using AutoCAD is required. Working knowledge and minimum 2 years experience using SolidWorks.
? Minimum of an AA or AS degree from an accredited institution or an additional 3 years of direct design/drafting experience is required.
? Familiarity with all types of shop equipment and common manufacturing processes.
