Essential Functions:
The selected candidate will lead the planning, requirements, design, development, testing and deployment of a corrective maintenance program using Maximo 7.
He/she will have extensive Maximo work management experience that includes work identification, validation, planning, scheduling/assignment, execution and completion/closeout.
In addition to Maximo and work management expertise, he/she will develop and/or oversee the development of project documents that may include Scope Documents, Functional Specs, Test Scripts and Business Practices.
General:
This position will support the Engineering Department s Railroad Infrastructure Management System (IMS). A key component of the IMS is the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM), a work management system that will utilize work and asset management system technologies (work orders) to maximize the performance of the construction and maintenance workforce, as well as ensure regulatory compliance of all inspection requirements. Engineering has selected IBM s (formerly MRO) Maximo EAM System for implementation and the EAM Systems Engineer - Functional will play a major role in the development and ongoing support of this complex enterprise system.
1. Support current and ongoing implementation working in the areas of Assets, Locations, Work Orders, PMs, Job Plans, etc.
2. The work required to perform includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the data gathering, development, training and rollout of standard and custom MXES-based enterprise asset management features
- Perform detailed Functional review of current Amtrak Business Practices, and provide recommendations for improvements based on industry best practices and the functionality provided by the Maximo application
- Develop and update detailed documentation of existing Amtrak Business Practices
- Assist in the Functional design of Maximo reports according to the project requirements
3. Understand and document functional business requirements as an input to application design
4. Develop detailed functional designs for business solution components and prototypes
5. Support requests from users to research system problems or errors, and assist with the resolution
Deliverables
1. Document project decisions and modification of initiatives for change control documentation
2. Provide progress reports for progress on plans, budgets and schedules
3. Provide action items lists and follow up progress for project issues and activities
Requirements:
1. BS in Engineering or Business related field and/or equivalent work experience
2. Strong Maximo 6/7 functional knowledge required to help execute numerous sub-projects within overall EAM Program
3. Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in a functional position with the implementation and utilization of fully integrated enterprise asset management system
4. Minimum of four (4) years Maximo experience with at least two (2) in Maximo 6/7 (7 preferred)
5. Strong understanding of the full corrective maintenance life cycle and work management concepts and best practices
6. Heavy experience with Maximo work management, including the utilization of Assets, Locations, Work Orders, Job Plans and PMs and more specifically, the work order lifecycle, including work identification, validation, planning, scheduling/assignment, execution and completion/closeout.
7. Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a project team environment
8. Must have strong project team experience with successful project results
9. Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff from line workers to upper management
10. Ability to create and update detailed documentation
Experience:
Minimum of two (4) years Maximo EAM working experience and/or have successfully completed a minimum of two (2) implementations of Maximo 6/7 EAM.
Must have two (8) years of computer experience in at least two of the following disciplines: system analysis, system programming, application programming, and equipment analysis.
Exposure to and an understanding of current rail road infrastucture (ie heavy/light/commuter rail & track, railroad switching and signaling technologies and maintenance)
