Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The EDI Analyst will provide mapping, EDI analysis and support to the EDI Supervisor as well as monitoring EDI applications and processes for incoming and outgoing EDI documents.

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Verify automatic process for all inbound and outbound EDI transaction sets several times a day.
  2. Correct and retranslate any transaction sets that reject. Maintain EDI logs that keep track of Control Numbers for transaction sets sent and received.
  3. Communicate with client trading partners to resolve issues such as missing Functional acknowledgements and retransmission of missing documents. Respond to customer and trading partner inquiries while documenting trading partner communications and requests. Trading partners include customers, suppliers, carriers, and client associates.
  4. Quickly research, modify or correct existing EDI maps and programs following departmental and EDI standards/procedures for mapping/coding changes. Must write error free code and fully test all programs impacted by changes.
  5. Design, develop and test new EDI maps and programs to fulfil client and customer EDI requirements. This includes creating maps, inquiries, update programs, and reports, both in C and in SQL; thoroughly researching existing programs and system capabilities. Carefully define the solution prior to coding, and provide thorough testing.
  6. Stage EDI test data and test EDI programs written by EDI Programmer and EDI Supervisor.
  7. Maintain close communication with EDI Supervisor on all EDI requests, problems and resolutions.
  8. Assist in maintaining client internal EDI Authorization and Requirements system on the ERP Servers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. B.S. degree in computer related field or a minimum of 6 years of EDI and development experience.
  2. Formal training in C, C++ or Java programming languages.
  3. Formal training or at least 1 year of experience with the Unix operating system.
  4. Training or at least 2 years of experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
  5. Mapping experience with a major mapping tool. Preferably Sterling Gentran for Unix and or GXS Trading grid.
  6. Experience with EDI Document tracking. Preferably with GXS and or Ecom Systems.
  7. Experience in typical business applications software and business practices, especially the order to cash life cycle.
  8. Experience with major ERP software such as SAP, Oracle or Infor and EDI mapping of data from those systems.
  9. XML mapping experience is helpful.

Critical skills/competencies
1.Understanding of Windows computer operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
2. Understanding of manufacturing business practices.
3. Must be self-motivated and work independently.
4. Must be a proactive problem solver, have good problem solving skills, exercise discretion, and must apply deductive reasoning in appropriate situations.
5. Must have good customer service skills with internal and external contacts and ability to work well with teams.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
