Position: EDI System SpecialistLocation: Ames, IASalary: BOESummary:Responsible for analysis, design, test, installation and training efforts pertaining to thedevelopment and implementation of new and/or revised E-Commerce systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Work with EDI/E-Commerce team to architect, develop and configure a future state E-Commerce environment for full functionality within the SAP R/3 framework utilizing a combination of GIS tools and SAP XI.Assists Data Base Administrator in preparing database, data set and data element definitions and layouts relevant to system design. Work with the companies Sales and Marketing/Purchasing staff to contact customers and suppliers to negotiate Trading Partner Agreements and Guidelines for mutual benefit striving to ensure compatibility with E-Commerce strategies. Need to interpret and configure trading partner agreements as necessary to set up required processing. Communicate with the ASI EDI staff to understand the current environment and customer requirements necessary for purpose of replacing the current system.Work as part of a team to develop a European EDI EDIFACT environment with major EU customers. This will necessitate communication and support in a multi-cultural environment.Maintain proficiencies in the use of GIS tool set, SAP R/3 modules MM/FI/SD, XI, and related technologies in the spirit of continuous improvement. Must be open to other E-commerce possibilities.Must be willing to travel and participate on a Global Core Competency team.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:BA/BS in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or related area of study from an accredited institution. 3+ years experience working with EDI system administration, design, development, and analysis is required. These skills would encompass knowledge of trading partner/scheduling agreements and configurations, mapping, value added networks, ANSI X12 and EDIFACT standards and SAP interfacing (IDOC, ALE, OSS, Workflow). Development experience utilizing Gentran Integration Server (GIS) is required. GIS knowledge and experience should include mapping, trading partner envelopes and BPML development skills.Experience working with EDI customers and suppliers to analyze and implement requirements is a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Word, MS Project and Excel is necessary. Must be capable of working with Lotus Notes e-mail and Databases.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Must possess elevated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills necessary to act as IT E-commerce liaison with external EDi customers, suppliers and the EDI steering team. Must be able to negotiate issues and clarify trading partner agreements. Also must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Basic math capability includes the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.df-tc
