Description
The world of Information Technology (IT) is undergoing a revolution, and the goal of the Georgia Technology Authority is to bring the benefits of this revolution to state government. The GTA will ensure the effective utilization of IT resources in state government and make e-government a reality for the State of Georgia.

We currently have a challenging and exciting opportunity for (2) ERP Business Solutions Consultants to join our team in GTA's Financial Systems Section.

The Financial Systems Section of the Georgia Technology Authority is responsible for the operations and strategic direction of the PeopleSoft business applications used by the majority of state entities for financial and human resources management. The State of Georgia's PeopleSoft systems provide State entities with systems to support accounting, purchasing, labor distribution, asset management, personnel administration, and payroll business processes. The PeopleSoft systems were purchased and implemented from 1997 to 1999. The financial systems serve approximately 70+ state entities which make up approximately 80% of the State funds in the State Appropriation Act. The Human Resources systems serve 80+ state entities accounting for the personnel administration and payroll of 65,000 state employees.

The Financial System Section of the Georgia Technology Authority is a shared services organization that functions as an application service provider to the State entities. GTA-FS provides State entities with business process support, help desk services, functional expertise, application development and production management services.

Major responsibilities of this position include:
  • Provides support for the development of medium to highly complex and cross-functional ERP business information solutions.
  • Works on one or more projects as a project team member or sometimes as a team leader.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for 2 or more ERP Functional areas.
  • Responsible for working with customers in the development, support, maintenance, and deployment of ERP business applications as well as information support processes.
  • Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
    • Leads short- and long-term planning sessions with customers to improve Agency business processes. Generally improving the functionality of ERP functional application tools.
    • Serves as an ERP functional liaison between Agency customer and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
    • Recommends, develops, writes and communicates Agency business requirements for the design and implementation of solutions using ERP functional applications.
    • Builds and maintains appropriate tables and trees based on Agency business rules, processes and state statutes.
    • Works with Agency customers to develop and analyze ERP application tool needs and determines optimum functionality requirements to meet those needs.
    • May lead the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes. Participates on design teams and in design walk-through.
    • Leads the development of test plans, including robust test cases. Interfaces with Agency customers on testing and monitors support agreements (SLA's)
    • Monitors and reports on deviations.
    • Analyzes and tests new releases/ versions of software in order to determine a rollout schedule, functional compatibility and integration issues.
    • Develops and provides training to customers on all features of application/product usage via various methods including telephone, distance learning or on-site visits.
    • Responds to Tier II and I support via multiple sources such as phone and email. Generates activity and status reports.
    • May be assigned to different shifts to provide coverage for customer and production support.
    • Diagnoses escalated customer problems and provide guidance to other team members. Maintains knowledge management database for problem reporting and resolution. Escalates when necessary.
    • Works with user groups to develop and design manual and web enabled user guides and documentation.
    • Develops, monitors and coordinates project activities, such as scheduling tracking, reporting and leads change management efforts impacting own projects.
