TITLE: Health Systems Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Engineer/Specialist

PROJECT: All EDI/Emergis Engineer Work which includes all projects

DIVISION: Health Systems Division - 66

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum BS/BA degree with a minimum of 5 years experience. Must have excellent analytical skills and experience with developing and supporting electronic data interfaces. Must have a minimum of 2 years of implementing EDI maps using a commercial EDI product. Must have experience with PL/SQL and relational databases. Experience with HIPAA regulations and XML is a plus. In addition, must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate must be able to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment, and must demonstrate the ability to successfully execute multiple complex tasks simultaneously; as well as the ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently. Must be capable of quickly learning and using technology concepts and methods to support health services projects and operations. Must have the flexibility to travel extensively to support multiple changing project needs, including the willingness to relocate as opportunities arise.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining HIPAA EDI file exchange processing for managed health care projects.

Perform general HIPAA administrative duties and information support for HIPAA related issues.

Monitor or adjust connectivity between the HIPAA servers and MAXe and FTP servers (internal and external) in support of data exchange with state agencies, and health plans over VPN or internet connections

Troubleshoot HIPAA compliancy and formatting errors for both incoming and outgoing file exchanges.

Maintain, DOS and MS SQL DTS packages that process incoming and outgoing files

Maintain PGP infrastructure and annual software upgrades.

Write scripts using EC Gateway to handle file flow

Develop and implement new EDI maps in support of individual projects

Update the EC Gateway and EC MAP products to latest Sybase releases

Support file transfer email notifications to convey results of EDI transmissions

Perform other duties as may be assigned by system management staff.
