MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enhanced Provider Specialist (Waiver)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides assistance to waiver providers with billing and claim processing.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries, emails and written correspondence using standard scripting, procedures and letters.
  • Gathers information, researches/resolves inquiries and logs customer calls and correspondence.
  • Communicates with waiver providers and State of Alaska.
  • Informs customers about services available and assesses customer needs.
  • Effectively resolves assignments within specified timelines with attention to quality.
  • Focus on providing excellent customer service in all aspects of contact with providers, recipients and clients.

    REQUIRED (minimum):
  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and/or vocational training.
  • Experience in building/maintaining customer relationships
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
  • Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • Experience (usually 4-5 years) in claims processing and direct customer service.
  • Ability to maintain production levels and quality goals.
  • Extensive customer service and/or team experience. Advanced knowledge of health care products under both fully insured and self-funded arrangements, medical terminology, diagnosis and procedure coding, and coordination of benefits.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    PERFERRED:
  • Detailed understanding of Medicaid policies and procedures at both Federal and state levels
  • Demonstrated proficiency in adapting/tailoring best practices/processes to business needs.
