Local Candidates only. Ajilon Consulting has an opening for a Technical Architect/Enterprise Architect position with strong Data Center and Security experience in Denver for a contract to perm position. This position pays $57/hr W-2 no benefits, for the contract portion. Looking for experience with large server or desktop installations/operations. Also, recent experience with vmware, windows server or working with large outsourced environments. Responsible for the establishment, development and promotion of standard architectures / frameworks for network/security. They are looking for someone on the Data Center, Security, Infrastructure side as opposed to experience related to SOA, integration, software development, etc. They already have 2 application EAs and need an EA that has significant data center infrastructure experience or security architecture. Specific activities & experience related to setting architectural standards, technology direction, matching technology solutions to business problems and providing cost benefit analysis, governance of architectural standards. Large corporate experience in governance and planning (selling ideas to execs). Additionally, would like experience in enterprise services like storage management, service management, etc.

Previous experience as an enterprise architect in a large corporation. By enterprise architect, I do not mean architecting solutions for a project which is an enterprise application - that is the responsibility of the solution architects. Enterprise architects are focusing on more of a 3-5 year timeframe vs 1-3 year immediate needs/projects

The enterprise architect we are looking for is able to (and has experience):
a. understanding business goals and map technology strategies that address those goals b. write architectural opinions that can be discussed with technology and business stakeholders re: technology directions. The opinions would be used to build architectural standards which serve as guidelines by solution architects for specific product selection.
c. respond to specific technology requests and help vet solutions created by solution architects (or provide options for solution architects along with pros, cons, TCO, CBA, ROI d. with each opinion, determine TCO (total cost of ownership), A (cost benefit analysis) and ROI (return on investment).

2. Excellent communication/coordination skills - Communications and relationship building - effectively communicate highly technical information to numerous audiences (including senior management), effectively develop relationships inside and outside of IT, deliver difficult messages and technical recommendations and influence others to change their approach and work collective to implement new strategies, gain support for technology direction and champion the migration towards the new technology;

3. Previous operational experience with a large corporation - comparable to Xcel Energy. Ideally, experience with servers, storage, networks and desktops on a large scale. >500 servers supporting multiple locations and >5000 desktops in multiple locations.

4. Experience with AIX, linux, MS Servers in the data center.

5. Experience with VMware, VDI.

6. Experience with Microsoft technologies, preferably including virtualization (MDOP).

7. Great technologist. Able to think strategically about market directions and trends in the marketplace related to infrastructure - storage, servers, networks and desktops.

8. Experience with large scale backups, archiving and DR (disaster recovery). also understanding of current and upcoming technologies and best practicies related to these areas.

9. Experience building architectural standards and reference architecture patterns

10. Experience building and executing architectural governance.

11. Broad knowledge and experience in infrastructure best practices, including ITSM, ITIL, Asset Management

12. Experience using research - Gartner, Corporate Executive Board, Burton, etc.

13. Experience with outsourced operations in a large corporate environment.

14. Significant experience and desire to influence others and drive decisions in a highly political environment

15. Fast pace of work.

16. Work well under schedule pressure - being able to prioritize activities and complete required activities on time.
