Term: Direct-Hire (no contracts involved)

Description:

Our client is looking to expand its enterprise solutions architecture team with the addition of a Solutions Architect. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to join a down-to-earth team with highly competent professionals. This is a pivotal role in the organization; this person will develop and execute a data architecture system that includes 1) user ownership of the data (with structure to help it happen), 2) identification and documentation of important enterprise data, 3) structure and governance for the life cycle of data (including data mart/data warehouse strategy), and 4) structure towards a componentization (often referred to as SOA - Services Oriented Architecture). Experience with SAP/BW and a working knowledge (built off of experience) of a SOA environment is critical.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Develop a technical (hardware and software) strategy to reduce the complexity and enhance the future adaptability and agility of technology infrastructure.
* Such standardization helps reduce the cost of operating too many different components, simplify contract management and negotiations, and speed decision making on a per-project basis, while minimizing the cost of changing things later.
* Maintain technology (applications included) 2-5 year road map
* Ensure business and IT understanding and agreement with roadmap
* Provide project guidance to ensure alignment with roadmap
* Propose plans and projects to develop architecture according to roadmap timeline
* Develop and maintain technology architecture principles
* Ensures architecture projects align with technology architecture principles df-tc


Experience/Skills
Successful candidate will be able to explain, at an executive level, the benefits and attributes of an architected solution, influencing business unit personnel in understanding the need and benefit of avoiding stovepipe solutions. Additionally, the successful candidate will facilitate the data governance teams, ensuring that the team (users) fulfills the responsibility related to their ownership of the data.

Ideal candidates should possess the following:

* Bachelor's degree (may be substituted for 6 years directly related experience)
* 3 years managerial experience beyond just project management experience, prefer operational management experience mainly for credibility, someone who has managed and measured on an ongoing basis and has to live with what they produced or implemented, i.e. CIO, Software Engineering Manager, etc. Exposure to many aspects of IT
* Experience in both infrastructure and application development
* Experience developing and promoting a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
* Data management experience: data acquisition
* Experience designing and communicating the architecture:
-Component design work by others
-Integration design work will be important
-Helping develop some of the testing scripts
* Prefer to see individuals with highly technical engineering operations background or broad in depth architecture backgrounds (many of the candidates we have already sourced seem to come from the retail and finance industry)
* Prefer individuals in the 15-20 year labor pool, minimum 8 years.
* High level business process understanding
* Prefer Teclecom, Utility, Engineering or Manufacturing experience. May also accept candidates with experience working in the following areas: On Star, Gambling systems or other field that has dealt with significantly expanding control points of data passed back and forth electronically.
* Strongly desire experience with the following technologies:
-SAP-ERP
-Oracle
-Business Objects
-Microsoft's development, operating systems, security and collaboration platforms, i.e. Sharepoint
