This position is located in Frederick, MD
Technology company with more than 25 years of strategic marketing experience and brand development expertise seeks an Entry Level PHP Web Programmer.
Job DescriptionThe PHP Web Programmer position will be responsible for designing, programming, and testing complex requests from both project managers and clients. The ideal PHP Web Programmer is energetic and easy-going with a great work ethic and the personality for a diverse, customer service oriented, casual work environment. The candidate should love meeting interface and development challenges daily with enthusiasm while also researching and proposing new technologies in their field and interacting with their peers. Responsibilities include:
• Develop new and update existing code individually and in a team environment
• Work with project/account managers and clients to understand requirements and clarify conceptual needs for projects both small and large
• Accurately quote time estimates for projects both small and large
• Assist in the development of detailed project specifications
Required Skills• 1 – 2 years application development experience in the industry
• BS degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or additional industry experience in lieu of degree
• Must have hands-on working knowledge of the following technical areas:
o PHP, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS
o postgreSQL – both SQL query language and database structure/design
o UNIX/Apache web hosting server environment
o Software development and maintenance practices and methodologies
o Awareness of code efficiencies such as the reuse of common modules and identifies opportunities for request consolidation and/or reusability
• The following skills considered a plus:
o Adobe Photoshop, Image Ready
o Take a Photoshop interface design, cutting and optimizing the graphics and using them in conjunction with PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. to build multi-browser/platform compatible web sites
