Corporate Equipment Evaluations Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct technical evaluations on various types of equipment used for Broadband RF and Fiber Optic communications. These evaluations will be distributed to corporate engineering and system management to assist them in engineering and purchasing decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct technical evaluations of broadband RF communications equipment such as amplifiers, modulators, signal processors, demodulators, passive devices , etc.
Conduct technical evaluations of fiber optic communications equipment such as Laser transmitters, optical receivers, optical amplifiers, patch panels, splitters, etc.
Conduct technical evaluations of analog and digital video and telephony equipment used in broadband and narrow band communications.
Conduct technical evaluations of test equipment used in video, broadband, fiber optic and satellite communications.
Interface extensively with vendors and manufacturers on new equipment for evaluation.
Drive change, develop standards and define new processes through knowledge, leadership, communication, influence and team building skills
Create or update documentation including policies, process flows, methods and procedures, network diagrams, defect reports, acceptance test plans, post mortems, technical specifications and other documentation as required
Research and leverage company/industry best practices. Challenge established practices and processes
Plan, schedule and oversee projects. Track project milestones and meet time, cost and quality expectations
Write detailed test plans for evaluation of new products and applications and execute all test cases as needed
Perform extensive data entry, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of test results using several software solutions for engineering and operations management
Responsible for opening/closing trouble tickets related to corporate CATV system
Write clear and concise reports on evaluated equipment, including recommendations, to corporate engineering and system management for engineering and purchasing decisions.
Maintain corporate CATV system
QUALIFICATIONS
Typical Training/Experience - BS Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience on broadband RF and fiber optic systems. Generally10+ years experience in CATV broadband communications and technology
Dept/Org Scope & Impact - Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments that have direct impact on department and area results
Problem Complexity - Performs full range of standard professional level work that typically requires processing and interpreting, Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve more complex, less clearly-defined issues.

Knowledge - Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of Hybrid Fiber Coax systems principles, practices, and procedures

Ability to work with and support other departments and management
