As an Equities Lead Systems Analyst, you will be involved with the Equities Trading System and Equity research and reporting solutions developed in house. You will work with investment personnel to analyze and implement small projects, delivering custom solutions to be used in the investment process. This includes but is not limited to all aspects of the definition, implementation, and support of a new Equity Trading Platform. Daily activities will include project management, requirements gathering, application design, code reviews, implementation, testing, end-user training, and transition management. This position requires project and client management and delivery skills as well as excellent analytical and communication skills, and strong trading domain knowledge. Our trading system is available on a 24-hour basis, supporting Equity, Fixed Income, and derivatives trading in all global markets.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • This role is 20 to 30% analysis (gathering requirements, working directly with the Equity Portfolio Managers) and the remainder is implementation

  • Partner with the equity trading business to collect, document, and implement the requirements of the new Equity Trading system

  • Proactively identify opportunities for new and improved systems

  • Take ownership for the delivery of functionality, working collaboratively with other teams to design, implement, test, and support the trading system

  • Participate in the development of project estimates and schedules

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems analysts and consultants

  • Develop deep expertise in the Equity Trading system, workflows, and data

  • Train and educate team members on Equity Trading

  • Work collaboratively with Portfolio Management, Compliance, Accounting, and Infrastructure

  • Work collaboratively with QA and software engineering teams in a matrix structure

  • Document, track, and research production issues and work with the appropriate teams on the resolution

  • Work with traders to prioritize needs and ensure communication to keep them appraised of progress

  • Serve as a key point of contact for the business and IS teams

  • Perform data gap analysis and facilitate remediation efforts

  • Plan and manage small support projects and perform development and deployment

  • You will be leading a team of consultants

Experience/Skills
Required Background/Experience

  • 7+ years systems analysis experience in Equities Trading or Portfolio Management

  • 5+ years experience in a systems role directly supporting investment professionals

  • Strong Microsoft Office Application expertise, in particular with Excel and the creation and maintenance of Excel VBA macros

  • Proficient at delivering applications using Excel, VBA.NET, and SQL

  • Experience leading developers

  • Extensive understanding of investment research and reporting requirements, the investment process, equity and
    derivative securities, and market data services

  • Large Build and Implementation experience specifically

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and business analysis for medium to large initiatives

  • Experience writing requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and test plans

  • Exposure to iterative development processes

  • Strong knowledge of order management systems (OMS), Financial Information eXchange protocol (FIX), electronic trading practices, and markets

  • Trading vendor experience with vendors such as MacGregor, Charles River, and LatentZero


Major Pluses to have

  • PL/SQL skills

  • Experience with Factset or Bloomberg is highly desired

  • Experience with Oracle Database Development tools.

  • Development experience with Microsoft .NET development would be a strong plus!

  • Equity Trading domain knowledge

  • CFA or demonstrated progress toward a CFA
