Description

DBA Needed:
Designs, maintains, analyzes and supports databases in use to support business functions and reporting needs for end users under the supervision of the Executive Director of Information Services. This position supports the implementation and technical assessment of proposed software solutions regarding database sizing/architecture to meet the performance needs of the application and proposed function. The position supports the analysis and modification of data formats to enable file transfers and data conversions between systems. Documents end user requirements and can make formal presentations of findings, recommendations, deliverables and specifications to management when required. Provides technical and operational support to the LAN/WAN multi-protocol networking environment. Responsible for leading/supporting various networking projects in support for company initiatives and when necessary can assist in the basic setup, repair and maintenance of all personal computers and related peripherals.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions
Devise, develop and deploy required SQL-relational databases and queries in response to business user needs
Collaborate with unit managers, end-users, IS Staff and other stakeholders to integrate data mining applications with existing systems
Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for database mining/analysis services
Develop, implement and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases and data models
Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones
Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity
Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
Perform analysis and diagnosis of highly complex systems and applications both in test and production environments
Plans and executes with IS staff- the customers strategy, upgrade(s), migration, deployment of highly complex systems and applications and other supported activities
Acts as a focal point for systems and applications database or data model problem resolution
Provides training to other IS staff and customers, as well as, Real Time response to support issues and escalation, as required
Works with network services team to establish network connectivity, backup and disaster recovery support SLA (s) for all systems and applications
Ensures security policy and procedures of highly complex systems and applications are followed, tested and are in accordance with best practices
Provides telephone/remote/on-site and on-call support for systems and application database issues as required and/or escalated from Customer Support or central helpdesk as well as, supports down-time practices and procedures; develops and performs Joint Commission, Internal Audit, and Disaster Recovery design, planning, training, implementation, and validation activities

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Systems and Database Administrator reports to the Executive Director of Information Services and has a strong working relationship with the Lead Application Analyst and the Lead Network Engineer. Works collaboratively with the Information Services team in Baltimore to achieve operational objectives and also exercises a wide degree of latitude in carrying out daily tasks with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Minimum of six years of full time experience in information systems, of which four (4) years must have been in programming or systems (preferred)
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (MCTS) certification and (MCDBA) (preferred)
Strong knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Office, MS Access
Working Knowledge of Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server environment
Solid understanding of TCP/IP related concepts (eg IP Addressing and IP ports)
Experience with compliance concepts related to government regulation (HIPPA)

Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to create and maintain technical infrastructure documentation
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Must be a team player, self-motivated, quick learner, detailed, and organized
Ability to organize and lead specification meetings and design effective interfaces
Experience in client support and customer service, preferably with a large multi-national organization
