Description
SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a Blue Sky Requisition and will only be filled upon award of the IUSS/SURTASS follow-on contract. Position may require the ability to perform in an arduous duty environment and successful candidates must be capable of passing a Mariners Physical per COMSCINST 6000.1.c and maintaining their medical fitness for this position.

Selected candidate will be responsible for: Preparation and submission of all required engineering and administrative reports. Acting as a liaison/coordinator with sponsor, shipâ??s master, sponsored riders, operational commanders, other SURTASS contractors, MSC and shipyard personnel, and other Government organizations. Providing Quality Assurance for repairs and modifications to equipment and ensuring applicable maintenance standards are met. Developing, testing and installing Engineering changes and QA of installations. Performing electronic equipment installations. Coordinating and conducting training as directed. Recommending modifications to customer/sponsor needs. Preparing operational and maintenance procedures and manuals as needed. Performing engineering research and analysis. Augmenting ships technical crew in port and at sea as necessary.

CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required. Must have or be able to obtain a valid US passport.

The applicant selected may be required to work at sea on ships; work rotating shifts, and works in excess of 40 hours per week. The selected applicant must obtain a valid U. S. passport in an expeditious manner, have the ability to travel and successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and must obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.df-tc

Experience/Skills
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in related discipline with 5 years of professional experience; 3 years of related experience with Masters degree; or 0 years of related experience with a PhD or JD. Considered career, or journey, level.

HS Graduate, two years technical school and three years electronic maintenance experience (or eight years equivalent electronic experience) with SURTASS array training preferred. Experienced in civilian or military operation and maintenance of passive and/or active towed sonar sensor systems. Specifically knowledgeable and experienced in the area of towed array sensor systems and towed array maintenance (knowledge of computers and computer networks with LINUX, Solaris, and/or UNIX Based OS operation and/or programming, and/or HF, UHF, SHF communications systems a plus). Must have the ability to work under only very general supervision and the ability to provide training to other electronic maintenance technicians.
