If you have novel ideas for making a database easy to use, read on.  How do you make a great RDBMS?  At Vertica we rely on innovative and collaborative teams.  Vertica is looking for creative Field Engineers to help our customers succeed.  Our field team is integral in coming up with ways to help our customers deploy, manage and maintain the Vertica Database.  An ideal candidate is well versed in SQL, familiar with mainstream RDBMSs such as Oracle, DB2 and MySQL and has some programming or scripting experience in C++, Python, Perl and Shell.  Knowledge of Linux (RedHat, SuSE, Debian) and VMware is a plus.  Your job will include technical account management, pre-sales support and working on proof of concepts while interacting with sales, engineering and other teams in the organization.   You must be comfortable in a startup environment, interfacing directly with customers in the field, on the phone and via IM and e-mail.
