We have an immediate need for a Fire Protection Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Description Independently ensures compliance with applicable fire and building codes and standards (eg, federal, state, local) by developing fire protection specifications and procedures, reviewing and approving designs (eg, construction, fire protection systems, production and manufacturing processes), performing fire protection and special hazard analyses (eg, hydraulic calculations, code research and interpretation, flammable liquids, combustible dust, rack storage) and negotiating with local building and fire agencies and conducting fire system tests/evaluations (eg, acceptance and periodic) to minimize the impact of potential losses, maintain compliance with requirements and protect people, property and the environment.

Provides leadership, guidance, and training to others relative to current code trends and direction. Leads efforts to develop and revise codes and standards by participating on national and local code bodies, committees and councils (eg, International Fire Code Council, National Fire Protection Association and National Aeronautical Standards) to minimize their impact and enhance the fire safety for the company. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures by participating in design reviews and approvals (eg, construction, fire protection systems, production and manufacturing processes), performing general fire protection and special hazard analyses, conducting fire inspections and systems tests, and negotiating with applicable management to minimize the impact of potential fire losses, maintain compliance with requirements, and protect people, property and the environment.

Sets direction and leads the development and revision of company standards, processes and procedures by teaming with the Fire Protection Engineering group and internal customers (eg, Workplaces Services, business units, EHS) to comply with applicable codes and standards and to enhance the fire safety for the company. Must have TS/SCI Clearance.
