JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide technical support to review and assess geospatial data and databases, information, specifications, standards and special studies which affect the Government's digital mapping environments. The successful candidate will identify and define the geospatial information infrastructure which will optimize databases and geospatial intelligence needed by tactical users. He / She will assist to ensure that program requirements are reflected in current and future geospatial capabilities and data sources. The successful candidate will also work with Government staff to develop strategic and operational plans, requirement, CONOPS and scenario documents. They will also be called upon to provide technical GIS/geospatial support to ongoing operations and missions. This candidate will directly contribute to the implementation of the organization's goals and objectives.

Key aspects of the work are:
Develop strategic plan; Requirements analysis; Evaluate Technology Indicators; Optimize Programs and Systems; Conduct technical reviews; Virtual laboratory assistance; Meeting and research support. Performs standard GIS studies. Works with related GIS software and programs to create and maintain databases and/or maps that can be combined with geographically referenced data. Meets with users to define data needs, project requirements/required outputs, or to develop applications. Compiles geographic data from a variety of sources including census , field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps. Analyzes spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports. Works on problems of moderate scope. Interacts daily with supervisors and/or functional peer groups. Interacts with outside customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:
Candidates must hold a current TS/SCI clearance, have a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience including the following:
Knowledge and experience with digital cartography, image processing, and computer technology; knowledge of geographical information systems, geospatial production techniques, and NGA digital data formats; knowledge of the GIS commercial-off-the-shelf applications software such as arcgis , ArcView, leica ERDAS IMAGINE, arcims , and Remote View; demonstrated participation in and/or directing the activities of highly skilled technical and analytical teams responsible for developing solutions to highly complex intelligence problems; and demonstrated good oral and written communication skills. Candidates must have the knowledge and experience to design, develop, implement as well as forensically examine established geo-databases. Work is performed in an intense, mission oriented environment and may require extended hours. The candidate should be organized, possess the ability to exercise attention to detail, follow oral and written instructions and interact with various levels of technical staff and management. Experience with the Air Force geobase programs, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) data and geospatial databases is a significant benefit.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, GIS, Cartography, Geography, Remote Sensing or related field (substitution of experience for formal degree is possible).df-tc
