Description
Fluent Inc., the world leader in commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, is seeking an experienced software engineer with a proven record in the design and development of modern GUIs. Fluent Inc. develops, markets and supports several commercial CFD software products and is the premier CFD software company with thousands of user sites worldwide in a variety of industries.

The successful candidate will join a project team of highly skilled and motivated staff focused on delivering Fluent Inc.'s next-generation data visualization and post-processing platform. The position will involve development of an advanced post-processing GUI front-end that will meet the needs of a new suite of products being built on Fluent?s next-generation Application Framework. Specifically, the responsibilities will entail:
. Continual development and maintenance of the GUI front-end using the Application Framework GUI toolkit.
. Participating in Fluent?s User-Centered Design (UCD) process by creating user interface prototypes and modifying them based on results of usability testing and other evaluations
. Helping in the continual development of the Application Framework GUI toolkit by providing analysis and feedback on its effectiveness and usability aspects
The position entails interaction with:
. Application team Project Manager to assist with project planning and execution
. UCD Group Coordinator and Application User Interface Design Engineer helping with evaluation of early prototypes and field testing of released products
. Application Framework Senior GUI Development Engineer for ensuring that the GUI toolkit meets present and future needs of application developers at Fluent
. Testing and Documentation Teams for assisting in testing product GUIs, and in the preparation of end user documentation and technical documentation intended for internal staff
Job Requirements
. BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
. At least 4 years (2 years with MS degree) proven experience in GUI development - preferably for commercial and/or enterprise level applications
. Experience with modern GUI toolkits, such as Qt, Java Swing, Tk
. A background in user- or usage-centered user interface design, industrial design, human factors engineering, HCI, or related disciplines, is a plus
. A background in CAD, CAE, CFD or other areas of engineering/scientific computing, while very desirable, is not required

Location
This position is to be preferably filled at our corporate headquarters in Lebanon, NH.
