Global Network Administrator

Responsibilities:

• Manage and support the global network & infrastructure under direction from Global Network Manager.
  
  
• Install, configure, test, and maintain network equipment, firewalls, security infrastructure, and communication links.
  
  
• Provide on-call technical support for the global I/S organization, the Competency Centers, applications and end users.
  
  
• Administer, maintain, monitor and test network services and infrastructure to ensure high levels of availability.  Develop and analyze system statistics and reports as required. React and research all errors and issues.  Assess need for any changes or alterations to the network systems configurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
  
  
• Analyze the network usage for applications and plan for growth or increases as necessary to sustain the business operations.  Identify and resolve problems affecting system performance, efficiency, and availability in a timely manner.
  
  
• Provide technical guidance and instruction to others on the global network team as appropriate to assist in their development.
  
  
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network system administration and appropriate use.
  
  
• Provide end-user training and support through verbal and/or written communications when required.
  
  
• Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
  
  
• nteract and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network software, products, and services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or equivalent 8 years experience supporting network and communications infrastructure.
  
  
• Proven experience supporting large-scale network solutions with emphasis on global networks.   MPLS network experience a plus.
  
  
• Working technical knowledge of networks (data & voice), routers, switches, cabling technologies, network protocols, performance monitoring tools, security, and wireless technology.  Experience with Cisco and Nagios a plus. 
  
  
• Understanding of network, data & voice convergence, and security technology.  Experience with Cisco IP telephony solutions a plus.
  
  
• Understanding of network performance technologies to assist with troubleshooting. 
  
  
• Extensive network support experience. (8 years or more). 
  
  
• Technical knowledge and ability to manage Checkpoint firewalls throughout the company’s infrastructure.
  
  
• Prior experience leading workgroups and project implementations.
