Graphics Engineering Systems Administrator

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated person with experience in IT, DBA and high speed LANs to maintain and support a growing infrastructure within a live production environment.

As a Graphics Engineering Systems Administrator you will:
* Maintain the existing systems used in the production of our on-air control room Graphics systems

* Manage DBA functions for Broadcast Graphics systems
* Assist in qualifications of hardware and software revision and upgrades

* Liaise with Broadcast and Enterprise Systems Administrators to implement proactive policies and best practices for IT infrastructure
* Manage tape archive library and backup schedules for graphics production

Responsibilities:
- Support existing software pipeline infrastructure
- Interface with other DBA and IT administrators carry out daily procedures

- Proactive support of hardware, software updates, security patches and revisions testing

- Maintain, improve and secure our expanding Broadcast LAN infrastructure

- Support external datafeeds and backend systems with third party vendor solutions

- Support on-air operations related to Graphics Engineering infrastructure

Requirements:

- Proficiency in Linux or Unix, as well as Windows
- SQL DBA

- Knowledge or direct experience with Oracle database management

- Knowledge of networks, Graphics computing, render farms and clustered servers

- Software / hardware systems experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented player / flexible schedule
- Familiarity with current trends

Desired Skills and Pluses:

- Knowledge of video and disk array hardware

- Knowledge of video codecs & streaming video techniques

- Knowledge of live production environments
