Healthcare Quality Analyst

Terms: 6 months contract-to-hire. Direct hire possible for the right candidate.
Salary range: $53,810 - 91,475

The Healthcare Quality (QI) Analyst reports to the Director, Quality Management and provides analytical and technical support and quality oversight to client's Quality Improvement Program.

Principal responsibilities include:
Coordinate annual HEDIS audit process with the Director, Quality Management, other staff, and the external compliance auditor and abstraction vendor to ensure submission of questionnaires and data files on schedule.
Design survey and data entry tools and databases for quality studies and projects.
Serve as internal resource on research methodology, statistics, analysis and evaluation.
Ensure data collection/extraction, analysis and submission meet regulatory compliance requirements.
Collaborate with other units to identify and implement data analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Prepare and present in a variety of settings factual and statistical reports that address quality programs and issues.
Research and establish benchmarks and statistics for quality measures.
Identify trends and patterns and develop forecasts for utilization, processes, and outcomes of care.
Coordinate with MIS to ensure that HIPAA and other relevant compliance mandates on protected health information (PHI) are incorporated into data processes.
Assess the Quality Improvement program for hardware, software and telecommunications needs.

Essential Functions:
Data analysis using internally supported database programs like Microsoft.
Access, SQL and CRMS.
Management of and direct participation in QI activities and projects.
Development and presentation of reports supporting QI activities and projects.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO:

Bachelor's degree with a major in science, mathematics, public or business administration, or healthcare.
Education in statistics, methods and techniques for data collection, statistical analysis or analytical research methods strongly preferred.
Master's degree strongly preferred.

Experience/Skills
MINIMUM YEARS OF ADDITIONAL RELATED EXPERIENCE:

In-depth knowledge of health care with five years experience in managed care, hospital, or similar setting.
Three or more years experience in data systems and data analysis.
Three or more years experience with report writing.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE):

Ability to communicate effectively with people with information systems (IS) and clinical backgrounds.
Fundamental knowledge of statistical techniques and software.
Working knowledge of ICD-9/CPT, MDC/DRG coding, and medical terminology.
Knowledge and experience with NCQA and the annual HEDIS specifications and measurements.
Working knowledge of an NCQA Certified HEDIS Software solution (preferably McKesson CRMS).
PC software including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access (or equivalent), to develop reports using text, tables, charts, graphs and database.
Familiarity with concepts of information management.
Experience with CQI process and tools.
Ability to work on several projects and activities simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
