Description
For this contract position with a world-renowned software company, you will assist in the development of local support of the company's production databases for online operations of high-visibility products.

Job Functions:
  • Manages resources, coordinates and participates in activities associated with production servers
  • Follows and documents procedures
  • Provides reports measuring quality and quantity of work completed
  • Assists with training within database operations and other internal teams in the areas of database technology and support
  • Provides assistance in resolving problems with production server databases and tracking SQL Server problems with internal customers
  • Less complex systems and programs relating to database management
  • May oversee or participate in small projects and participate in medium to large projects

Experience/Skills
  • 2-3 years of work related experience in enterprise high availability systems using SQL 2005/2008
  • SQL coding, physical database design, performance tuning, distributed databases, database internals, Microsoft Windows NT operating system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational database management systems and client server technologies
  • Ability to implement enterprise-wide strategy for supporting U.S. domestic database systems
  • Familiarity with backup/recovery strategies, distributed databases, data migration, security and SQL error handling
  • Strong customer service skills along with excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or 1-2 years equivalent work related experience
  • OR Associate's Degree and 3 years of work related experience may substitute

BONUS SKILLS
  • MCDBA, MCITP Database Certified
  • Experience with Webstore
  • Experience designing databases and database systems
  • Experience with development of data migration scenarios, including understanding of pitfalls to avoid
  • Experience with log shipping and database mirroring
  • Experience with SQL 2008
