Description
Excellent East Memphis Company currently has an opening for an experienced IBM AS/400 Computer Operator. Ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:• Activates job processing through online terminal, transmittal sheets, or online mainframe master console.• Continuously observes the operation of the console, storage devices, printers, and other peripheral devices to monitor the system and determine the point of equipment or program failure.• Manipulates controls in accordance with standard procedures to rearrange the sequence of job steps to continue operations when individual units of the system malfunction. • Confers with the proper personnel in the event that circumstances require a change of instructions or sequence of operations.• Visually aligns forms to be printed.• Visually edits exception reports.• Knowledge of computer operation concepts and techniques.• Ability to comprehend technical language of operating instructions and equipment manuals.• Ability to clearly explain operating problems and difficulties.• Ability to prepare operating records, time computer runs, and to adhere to a fixed operating schedule.• Ability to work with limited supervision• Ability to plan, organize, and schedule activities associated with production runs to maximize efficiency in operations.• Good interpersonal skills.• Knowledge of computer operations, programming, and computer hardware and software.• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to uncertainty and constant changes in technology.Minimum Job Qualifications: Six months to one year of computer operations experience.High School Diploma or equivalent, along with one year of computer coursework.
