Description
Primary role:
This position is responsible for maintaining the Mainframe based Applications
including the Hospital Information System at DUH (DHIS) and HL7
applications. This is to be accomplished by providing technical
knowledge to resolve clients# business needs, and by working
with the technical and non- technical staff to accomplish DUHS objectives.

Essential tasks/responsibilities:
Support applications involving inpatients and outpatients encompassing clinical and business data by:
- Meeting with clients to understand the business requirements for the requested enhancements
- Creating specifications for changes
- Interacting with technical staff within DHTS, PRMO and Clinical areas
- Coding and testing changes to DHIS, HL7 Application and other mainframebased applications
- Reporting project statuses to appropriate management
- Implementing changes into the Production environment
- Providing 24X7 support on a rotating basis
- Follow all System Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery Plans.
- Follow Duke Medicine policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance.

The environment is:
- IBM Mainframe Z/OS
- On-line and Batch processing
- Application languages are PCS/ADS and PLI, CICS, COBOL and Assembler
- Application databases are IMS and DB2

Education/training
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field

Experience
Required: Three of years of IT experience
Preferred: Working in an IBM Mainframe and MVS environments Application programming usingIMS, DB2, PLI, PCS/ADS, CICS, SAS

Special competencies/credentials
Required: Good analytical and communication skills
Willingness to learn and grow as an IT professional
Preferred: Knowledge of Health Care Industry
