Description
JCPenney Information Technology has an immediate opening for an IT Applications Development Project Manager in the Direct Systems ( development) area in Plano, TX. We are looking for an experienced project manager with strong project, technical and user skills. The project manager will share the responsibility for modifications to the shopping experience. The project manager will lead a team of several in-house developers, with additional staff augmentation via offshore resources. The continued development and growth of the JCPenney associates is also an objective. The ideal candidate will be experienced with managing programming staffs and/or vendor product integration and customization staffs.

Responsibilities:
1. Manages and participates in the development of modifications to the shopping experience. This includes meeting with the Business area to assist with the creation of Business Requirements Documents, creation of a Technical Design Document that delineates how a change is to be implemented, and then managing the actual development of the modification, through user acceptance testing and installation.

2. In addition to the management of the projects and developers working on those projects, the candidate will be expected to be actively involved with design and coding of programmatic solutions.

3. Manages and participates in maintenance activities, as assigned, for the existing infrastructure as required.

4. Monitors and participates in assigned projects to ensure they continue to meet user needs in an efficient and effective manner as required.

5. Assists in the career development of associates assigned to the project team.

Qualifications:
1. An undergraduate degree is required (preferably a computer science degree); a graduate degree is preferred. Because of the dynamic nature of this activity a continuing education in the latest information systems techniques is required. In lieu of formal education, 8 years' progressively more responsible technical experience could also suffice.

2. 3 ? 5 years' experience, with demonstrated performance in managing substantial systems design and implementation projects.

3. Development and maintenance of systems operating software, project management, analytical and conceptual skills, leadership, interpersonal and communications skills.


Preferred, but not required:
1. Microsoft ?.NET? development.
2. Microsoft SQL Server knowledge.df-tc
