Description
DEFINITION OF POSITION
Provide first-level in-house and field support to staff using desktop and laptop equipment (computers, printers, projectors, and phones). Install, maintain, and upgrade software applications (operating systems, office suites, databases). Provide training to users on all technology-related equipment and applications. Troubleshoot basic network, internet, and phone system problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:
Respond to incoming help requests from staff via email and phone.
Prioritize, document, and proactively resolve help requests.
Apply diagnostic tools and techniques in troubleshooting problems.
Provide solutions and fixes to problems via email, phone, or in-person.
Install and upgrade operating system and application software, install hardware, implement file backups, and configure systems and applications.
Ensure network connectivity and perform preventative maintenance.
Utilize problem reporting system and help develop inventory tracking system.
Support other peripheral equipment such as printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, LCD, projectors, video conferencing equipment.
Perform updates and troubleshoot problems for PC-based office phone system.
Set up and troubleshoot problems for PDAs, smartphones, and cell phones.
Research and recommend future directions for desktop and laptop computers, office phone, systems, smartphones, and cell phones..
Train staff on various computer and phone functions and programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Basic computer and network hardware and peripherals, including printers, routers, switches, wireless LANs.
Microsoft software; including Windows, Active Directory, Exchange Server, Outlook, Office, Internet Explorer, and Internet Information Services.
Internet connectivity, including T1. DSL, VPN, and remote access.
WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, VPN, VLAN, firewall, security, anti virus, antispam, and backup technologies.
PC-based phone systems,, PDAs, smartphones and cell phones.
Macintosh environment, database applications, and VOIP are preferred but not required.
Trends in technology.

Ability to:
Provide successful training to staff and members on various computer and phone functions and programs.
Apply technical knowledge and expertise to the assignment at hand.
Handle numerous complex issues effectively and simultaneously.
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Travel as necessary to perform the responsibilities of the job.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Work effectively under pressure, to exercise good judgment under conditions of stress.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with staff, members and outside entities.
Research and recommend future directions for desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, and cell phones.
Be sensitive to, and cognizant of, specific areas of confidentiality in working on information systems.
Work and problem-solve with diverse groups of people.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, and turning in the
performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement,
and fine coordination in the use of a computer key board. Additionally, the position requires near,
far, and color vision in reading, working on computers, and related equipment, and using the
computer. Hearing is required when providing phone and face-to-face service to personnel.
Working in and around the computer room, loud background noise may exist.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and
