The Trading Floor Specialist is the primary line of support for end users on the trading floor. The Specialist is expected to gain superior knowledge on all trading applications and will be required to provide in depth application support.

This individual will be expected to provide crisis management for downed services and manage, escalate, and resolve those downed services.

This position will provide backup support for the setup, operation, and maintenance of our audio, video and projection equipment and environment.

This individual will act as a liaison between our business line partners, vendors and the internal IT department.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Gain superior knowledge of all trading floor systems.
  • Perform hardware, operating system, and application upgrades, maintenance, and installs.
  • Work with the project team and vendors to set timeframes for new rollouts
  • Communicate changes to service center analysts, change control and the appropriate IT and business line employees.
  • Create processes, support and contact documentation for the applications used on the trading floor.
  • Assist in verifying that all documentation is maintained and updated.
  • Provide crisis management for downed services and help manage, escalate, and resolve those downed services. Retain ownership of the issue until resolution.
  • Serve as the primary communicator to our business line partners and management during times of downed service.
  • Track all issues within the Piper Jaffray Internal Problem Management System.
  • Communicate recurring problems, trends and inconsistencies to management.
  • Work with vendors to get a detailed "reason for outage" report.
  • Deliver strategies, lead in the design, and provide guidance on our Audio/Visual Environment.
  • Deliver professional Audio/Visual services and support while interacting with business lines and management. Coordinate and produce high quality video recordings of multi-location firm meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
Requirements and Education
  • Ability to recognize and resolve application or connectivity trends.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, Windows XP, and PC protocols and standards.
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as IBM workstations, laptops and peripheral equipment.
  • Experience with software packaging and/or software distribution.
  • Working knowledge of Audio/Visual support and maintenance.
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self motivated and directed.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.
  • Financial Industry knowledge is a plus.
