Description
Contract-to-hire position for an IT Manager. The emphasis is on strong ability to manage IT systems. The team of 4 people is small, but the technology is complex. We are looking for an a manager with very strong hands-on technical skills; as much time will be spent managing IT systems and operations as managing people.
Technical responsibilities include: Vista Epicor relational database; Altogen (we will be implementing upgrade to phone servers - adapting system to handle calls to all locations); Zetafax; Backup Exec; VB and Cisco router programming; Compaq servers; HP peripherals; IBM desktops; reviewing software licenses and working with vendors; analyze and recommend improvements to disaster recovery system; LAN, WAN, DSL, VPN, internet, network administration and management; Exchange 2000 server; MS Office products - upgrade to XP from 2000; network security; project plans; communicating with and mentoring staff, training, policy writing.

Experience/Skills
Experience managing IT systems (manufacturing environment preferred).
Self-starter who is able to diagnose problems and implement solutions.
Experience with most of the following technologies:
Vista Epicor; Terminal Servers; Altogen servers
VB and Cisco router programming
Network admin, management and security
Compaq servers; HP peripherals; IBM desktops
Reviewing software licenses and working with vendors
Daily back-up and disaster recovery system
LAN, WAN, DSL, VPN, Exchange server,
MS Office products - upgrade to XP
Purchasing, project plans, writing policy, best sw practices.
Mentoring, training, instructions
