Description
Purpose:
Maintain day to day operations of Data Center (2) and related systems. Provides the monitoring function for the IT group to mitigate risk and the communication link between Operations & Infrastructure group and other I.T. and non I.T. groups. Maintain disaster recovery/business continuity plans for the I.T. Operations & infrastructure group. 200+ Server environment, primarily Windows (2000, 2003).

Functions and Responsibilities:

* Manages the day to day operations of the data center and provide the needed assistance to all IT groups.
* Manage Monitoring systems including

o Network Communications/bandwidth usage
o Server system performance
o Directory services (AD, DNS, LDAP, etc)
o Storage systems
o Telecommunications systems
o Messaging systems data flow
o Monitor initial security events - internal or perimeter systems (Denial of service, Hackers, logins to unauthorized systems, etc.)

* Provide upper management & other IT groups with reports to assist in order to maintain determined SLA/quality standards and for proactive planning.

* Maintain data back up systems and keep related disaster recovery/business continuity plans up-to-date and to determined levels.

* Work with the Associate Director & Managers of the group in performing recovery either to or from the back up data center.

* Manage & provide Network Administration functions, like account creation, deletion, print queue management, etc.

* Maintain Standards for account activation/deactivation, ACL, etc.
* Provide Network Support Services to other IT groups, KS, FA, etc.
* Manage & maintain monitoring systems and related components.
* Assist upper management in Operations direction and evaluate technology direction to meet Firm objectives.

Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong knowledge & understanding of monitoring systems to ensure Back office systems availability. (required)
* Strong skills related to disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to network systems (required)

* Strong knowledge & understanding of a Operations Center process and procedures (required)
* Strong Knowledge in understanding backup and replication technologies (required)
* Good knowledge & understanding of network operating systems and network directory systems. Must be able to understand very complex integrated environments (required)

* Good knowledge & understanding of Server and Storage architecture (required)
* Good knowledge & understanding of Network communications (required)
* Good knowledge & understanding of Network topologies, etc. (required)
* Good knowledge & understanding of client (PC's) interaction with back-end systems. (preferred)
* Good knowledge & understanding of application platforms running on network systems including databases and electronic communications systems (Email, electronic faxing, VoIP) (preferred)
