Description
The IT PMO Senior Manager will be responsible for progressing project and portfolio management within IT -- including resource management, quality control, forecasting and budgetary control, risk mitigation, status reporting, executive summary reporting, and delivery schedules. She/He will work closely with senior business leaders and IT management to ensure alignment of IT priorities with business initiatives and drive standardized project management methodologies, governance, methods, and tools.
The PMO Senior Manager reports directly to the Vice President of IT Governance and has managerial responsibilities over a team of PMO Analysts and Project Managers. This is a senior level IT position.

A strong candidate will have the following experience:

Implementing and maintaining PMOs - including competencies around disciplined portfolio management, methods for evaluating, approving and prioritizing projects, and closing/terminating of projects. (IT Portfolio Prioritization, Demand Management, and Resource Forecasting practices/principles).

Establishing scaleable project/portfolio management processes and practices within IT organizations; oversee the adherence to the processes and best practices. Worked with various methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and is comfortable coaching and applying the right method to a project. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a standard approach & tools to project management across the IT department.

Managing project managers. Coaching and mentoring project managers and IT staff related to methodology, policies, tools, templates etc.

Establishing and coordinating project prioritization processes across the enterprise, conduct project reviews, and producing executive level portfolio reporting.

Auditing projects to track progress/ROI, measures and metrics and providing feedback to project managers; develop and maintain a lessons learned repository as well as capture, analyze and publish metrics as they pertain to the PMO. Experience developing benefit realization tracking processes across the enterprise is a strong plus.

Reporting portfolio status to business leads and senior management, monitors and reports on implementation plans and budget performance. Candidate should have experience in the creation of frequent written executive level communications.

Collaborating with senior leadership (C-Level and down) and project managers to define business process issues, analyze operational efficiencies, implement creative solutions and measure delivery results.

Developing business cases with knowledge on topics such as: cost/benefit analysis, Total Cost of Ownership, Total Value of Ownership and Earned Value Management.

Leading IT annual capital and expense planning

This position will be responsible for acting as the company lead for the Hewlett Packard Project and Portfolio Management (HP PPM) application. Knowledge of and experience implementing, training and functional experience of PMO tool set required (Clarity/Niku/HP PPM/Workbench)

Qualifications
BS Required; MBA a plus.

10+ years previous project management and leadership experience including large scale, full lifecycle deployments.

5+ years of relevant professional level experience directly managing project managers or equivalent experience required.

PMP Certification strongly preferred.

Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project are required.

Quality and auditing certifications, including Six Sigma, are a plus

Requires strong leadership, mentoring, organizational and communication skills.df-tc
