Reports to: Project Management Office - Director
Location: Oakland, California

Overview:
The project manager is responsible for executing IS/IT projects. Initiatives include software development and business process reengineering projects. Project execution includes managing time line, resources, deliverables, budget and communications.

Responsibilities:
  • Project Integration:
    Accountable for the creation of the project plan, scope and budget.
  • Works with the business customer to develop the project scope of work and critical success factors.
  • Responsible for creating the project resource organizational requirements
  • RACI – Responsibilities – Accountabilities – Consultants - Informs
  • Responsible for creating the project budget.
  • Develop hardware and infrastructure requirements.
  • Develop software development and licensing requirements.
  • Develop internal and external resource requirements.
  • Responsible for creating the project schedule
  • Work with the appropriate resources to develop the project timeline.
  • Creates goals and milestones that correlate to project deliverables.
  • Project Execution – Scope:
    Manage projects to deliver defined benefits.
  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of the project plan.
  • Implement a change manage strategy which ensures business owner support.
  • Project Execution – Budget:
    Implements controls appropriate to the project scope to ensure the project remains within budget.
  • Control and track purchase requisitions, contracts, and other project commitments.
  • Control and track invoices properly attributed and payment amounts.
  • Provide awareness of the projects forecasted budget amount and variance to original budget.
  • Project Execution – Schedule:
    Implement the toolset appropriate to the project scope to ensure milestone achievement and overall schedule attainment.
  • Project Execution – People:
    Coordinate the activities of the project resources to deliver the scope on time and on budget.
  • Includes managing vendor relationships, consultants, and contractors.
  • Project Execution – Communication:
    Develop and implement a communication management plan such that principals are appropriately informed regarding the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Implement appropriate communication plan for the project team.
  • Implement appropriate communication plan for the project customers.
  • Project Execution – Other:
  • Develop and implement appropriate project risk management methodology.
  • Develop and implement appropriate project quality management methodology.
  • Project Management Office:
    Participate in the evolution of project management tools, methods and approaches.
  • Provide project management support to other project mangers within our IS/IT organization.
  • Create and conduct project management training classes and presentations representing the Project Management office.
  • Provide enterprise perspective of project status, business case development and summary reporting.

    Background Experiences:
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) managing IS/IT projects.
  • Managed system development projects demonstrating the understanding of a system development life cycle.
  • Managed successful financial, and/or distribution and manufacturing projects.
  • Proven ability to define project resource requirements, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Business experience in a consumer packaged goods related industry. (preferred)
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business, or Finance.
