IT Senior Staff Technologist

The NPR IT Operations team is seeking an IT Senior Staff Technologist (Network/System Administrator) who will be responsible for participating on a team that takes pride in and ownership of the production infrastructure. The successful candidate will act as a team lead through participating/supporting on-going/future departmental projects and will be actively providing support for all mission critical applications and network infrastructure that the operations team supports. In conjunction with these roles, the incumbent will be creating, deploying, and managing hardware/network services in a heterogeneous environment (e.g. UNIX, Linux, Windows 2003).

The following skills are desired: Networking experience including demonstrated advanced knowledge of networking concepts with operating in a large corporate network environment that includes both LAN and WAN connectivity; expert understanding of TCP/IP and IP routing fundamentals; demonstrated network security knowledge; demonstrated advanced knowledge of the following: Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft Cluster Services, Scripting, and Microsoft SQL Server (2000 & 2005); strong familiarity with VMWare ESX server; experience with database administration specifically SQL Server 2000/2005 and mySQL; ability to lead/coach staff through guidance with management; ability to work in a Configuration Management controlled environment; flexibility to work in a 24/7/365 environment (participation in an on-call rotation is required); knowledge of industry frameworks (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, MOF, etc.); advanced knowledge/experience working with storage area networks; knowledge of corporate backup/recovery/business continuity software packages (e.g. Tivoli Storage Manager); demonstrated ability to work independently under little guidance and working in a team environment that operates in a dynamic high-stress environment; experience in a broadcast radio, video, or production digital media environment is desired.

Required Experience

Requires a BS/BA with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science with 5-7 years direct career experience in Information Technology disciplines.
