One of our Direct clients has an immediate need to hire an iSeries Developer/Systems Analyst to fill a permanent position on their staff. This is a Contract-to-Hire position. Client prefers local candidates. No relocation assistance is available.
Job Description:Acts as the subject matter expert for business software developed in-house or purchased. Interacts closely with business users to accurately define business rules. Independently designs, develops, and maintains business solutions in both Java-based and AS400 Cobol technologies. Both Java and Cobol development experience on the AS400 are required.
Responsibilities:+ Work jointly with other analyst to give guidance on system software and hardware for any enhancements and project initiatives. + Create system specifications to meet business requirements and participate in the development of a software solution.+ Create and maintain documentation of all business system capabilities and processes.+ Develop enhancement and maintenance solutions for existing AS400 Cobol applications.+ Develop enhancement and maintenance solutions for existing Java based Web applications.+ Develop and execute unit, integration, and system software test solutions. + Work jointly with database analyst to insure data relationships are established according to business rules and policy.+ Works jointly with Systems Engineers to develop hardware and network infrastructure capable of supporting project solutions.+ Works jointly with Systems Engineers to assure solutions have well defined administration and support processes.+ Maintains current state business process diagrams for assigned business areas.+ Participates in a cyclical support solution for operational issues reported by a helpdesk team.Qualifications:+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study + At least 5 years of experience working in analysis, design, and development of software solutions.+ Exhibits strong technical software related problem solving and analytical skills.+ Experience in the "customer care for telecommunications industry" problem space is a plus.+ At least 3 years experience with AS400 Cobol.+ At least 3 years of experience with Java solution development.+ Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Specific experience with MS SQL and/or DB2 a plus.+ Experience with the IBM WebSphere IDE (WDSc), WebSphere Development Studio, Rational Development for i (RDi), WebSphere Application Server and HATS a plus.+ Familiarity with software development methodology such as RUP.+ Excellent organization and time management skills, written and oral communication, basic understanding of business operations. + Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.
