Description
JCPenney Information Technology Control Center has an immediate opening for an ITCC Technical Specialist - Resource Open Systems in Plano, Texas.

Basic Function:

Manages the day-to-day use of company resources in regards to storage mediums in the Open Systems environment, and ensures that sufficient media resources are available to meet production requirements and that the performance of those resources is within Company guidelines.


Responsibilities:

1. Effectively manages I/O resources in Open Systems to ensure performance and availability is achieved for company data processing equipment, and implements real-time changes when necessary.
2. Applies appropriate data management practices and policies to maintain company information.
3. Ensures migration implementation, conversions from outgoing hardware to new technology, and growth grid changes are achieved with minimal impact to clients.
4. Leverages new technologies to automate maintenance activity and to improve the performance and availability of company resources.
5. Configures resources to leverage latest tools and to correspond to application needs.
6. Assigns resources to support groups to support media growth requirements, and designs open system configurations to meet application requirements.
7. Reviews resource pools to enforce adherence to corporate media policy.
8. Maintains open system storage policies, and recommends specific storage solutions to meet exceptional performance needs of critical files.


Qualifications:

1. A college degree or equivalent work experience is required. A major in computer science preferred.
2. 4-5 years' experience in a large, complex data processing environment.
3. Must have working knowledge of storage management tools: SAN, ECC, Connectrix Manager, IBM's Storage Manager, SVC and SRDF.
4. Must have experience in: Zoning Disks, Zoning Servers, Space Allocation, Disk Migration, Virtualization, Bin File Configuration, LUN Masking and RAID 5.
5. Willingness to work Monday thru Friday and be on-call every other week (nights & weekends).
6. Core Competencies: Analytical and problem solving skills, working knowledge of storage management concepts, tools, and hardware components, working knowledge of open system operating systems, project management, automated migration tools for assorted vendor products, familiarity with database organization types, familiarity with critical open system components, working knowledge of data back-up systems, automated migration tools, open system performance monitoring tools, and LAN concepts, and written and oral communications.df-tc
