WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?Work with business partners who use the inforce and administration system interfaces. Participate on new system development and support projects by assisting in project management, creating/modifying system specs, help preparing test cases, and help defining predetermined results. Work closely with Illustration system developers to design system modifications and fixes. Partner with developers and QA analysts to complete testing of system changes, enhancements, and/or modifications. This position will also be responsible for participating in the organization's continual process improvement activities including best practices related to system development methodologies. Many of the job tasks are dealing with defining, testing and supporting system that provide detailed insurance calculations for different systems. Many of the tasks involve working closely with a team of 5 developers. All 5 of these developers are math majors/computer science minors.The tasks often involve working with complex formulas and eventually verifying or explaining changes to values produced by the systems created.This is a technical position which will require the candidate to eventually understand advanced concepts of how the insurance products are calculated with a focus on inforce illustrations and calc engine to administration system interfaces. The ability to understand and translate business specifications for implementation in multiple systems. A strong math background and aptitude is required. Solid knowledge of testing methodologies. A history of success in previous positions. Working knowledge of life insurance products and policy life cycles. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong sense of ownership and accountability. Self-motivation and the ability to learn quickly. Exposure to data structures, file layouts. SQL experience is a plus. 3-5 years of business analyst experience in the insurance or a financial industry is preferred. Strong experience with life insurance principles, administration and illustrations systems. Experience in system development methodology is also desired.
