Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION: This person will be responsible for developing online help, user manuals, training materials, and web based training courses for telephony billing and customer service applications.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Materials development - Write technical documentation (both end-user and support), develop training materials, help systems, and application simulations, document application/platform configurations, create process flowcharts. Background/skills: Excellent written communication skills, Intermediate Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Intermediate Visio, Web development (HTML, Dreamweaver, etc.), graphics (Photoshop, PaintShop Pro), experience with AuthorIT or other single-source platform preferable.

2. Technical assessment - Evaluate application functionality, determine cause/effect relationships (data configuration vs. application output), define configuration requirements, gather and evaluate end-user/business needs, validate user-provided data, evaluate and apply application features to meet site-specific requirements, research application logic and behavior, determine workarounds to achieve needed output/performance, contribute to application design process (esp. w/ regard to end-user requirements and usability). Background/skills: Strong knowledge of application development concepts and methodologies (some programming background is a plus), strong proficiency with Web applications and terminology, ability to conceptualize application end-to-end process workflows, strong business rules assessment skills (esp. e-commerce-related).

3. Project management / coordination - Develop project plans and schedules, facilitate user meetings, manage user testing and deployment activities, communicate requirements and status, and write project reports. Background/skills: Solid overall project management skills, strong written and verbal communication, Microsoft Project (intermediate).

4. Testing - Determine user testing requirements, develop test plans, execute test scenarios, record and report results, validate results across various application environments (QA, UAT, preview, production) throughout development and deployment cycle, manage user groups during testing phases, participate in post-deployment production testing (compare production environment results to development/testing environment/expected results). Background/skills: Experience assessing testing requirements and objectives, experience developing and executing test plans, experience with a test management system (TestDirector or similar).

5. Training - Deliver in-person and remote web-cast user training sessions, provide hands-on demonstrations, and lead question/answer sessions. Background/skills: Excellent presentation and communication skills, formal technical training experience.

6. Troubleshooting / support - Work directly with end-user community during pre-deployment phases, provide application use and configuration instructions, assess application behavior, determine severity of issues, report defects to application development teams, validate corrections, communicate status to users. Background/skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills (formal application support experience a strong plus), ability to clearly define and document observed results and steps to reproduce, methodical approach to issue resolution.





Experience/Skills
Excellent written communication skills.
Intermediate Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Intermediate Visio, Web development (HTML, Dreamweaver, etc.), graphics (Photoshop, PaintShop Pro), experience with AuthorIT or other single-source platform preferable.
5 years of experience in developing user documentation, test plans/cases, software requirements, or troubleshooting/support documentation.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, formal technical training experience desired.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills (formal application support experience a strong plus), ability to clearly define and document observed results and steps to reproduce, methodical approach to issue resolution.
Knowledge of application development concepts and methodologies (some programming background is a plus), strong proficiency with Web applications and terminology, ability to conceptualize application end-to-end process workflows, strong business rules assessment skills (esp. e-commerce-related)
Solid overall project management skills, strong written and verbal communication, Microsoft Project (intermediate).
Experience assessing testing requirements and objectives, experience developing and executing test plans, experience with a test management system (TestDirector or similar).
Ability to work independently as the primary deployment specialist/trainer/technical writer on projects.
At least five (5) years of experience in software deployments in a deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team.
