Description
Working as part of a team, have responsibility for extracting data from a source system, performing all associated transformations to the extracted data, and making the data available for loading to the data warehouse and data marts/reporting environments.



This responsibility includes but is not limited to; support of the applications, software version control, design, development, implementation, space allocation and management, migration, backup, recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, standards identification and compliance, fault tolerance planning, problem resolution, new product/release evaluation and support.



Main responsibilities include:

Review existing ETL processes (Informatica Mappings, Workflows, Unix scripts, Teradata Mload utility).

Participate in peer reviews and design reviews.

Work under the direction of Team Leader to perform maintenance and/or write new ETL processes.

Move data received from the source systems into the data warehouse or other data repository.

Map the source data to the target data structures.

Interact with business users to validate requirements.
Assist with defining ETL standards & processes.

Ensuring timely delivery of required ETL tasks.

Performance tuning existing ETL jobs.

Develop and test all ETL processes

Install and schedule production ETL processes

Execute/Implement initial data load from identified source system(s);

Validate the data with the clients Subject Matter Experts;

Identify and implement any transformations or conversions required to maximize consistency and usability of the data

Work in concert with the source system analyst to ensure synchronization of efforts related to metadata capture

Work in concert with the Analyst to validate data required from various source systems

May be asked to lead development efforts and manage detailed project plans.

Experience/Skills
5-7 years of work experience and Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

3 + years data warehousing experience using Informatica, including some experience with the most recent versions.

2 + years experience with performance tuning of mappings.

2 + years experience with writing Unix shell scripts

Experience working with the full life data warehouse software development lifecycle process, including analysis, ETL design, construction, and testing.

Strong knowledge of data warehousing fundamentals.

Knowledge of Oracle and UNIX.


Other desired skills:
5-7 years of work experience and Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
