Description
Infrastructure Supervisor
Reports to: Manager of Information Technology
Position Summary
Installs, configures, and supports Enterprise local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users. Troubleshoots network performance issues and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability. Develops, manages and maintains all systems and applications. Supervises other network support and client server specialists. Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures. Recommends and installs upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to management. Maintains familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the networking and infrastructure field.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Occupation Specific Tasks:
1. Assign and review the work of Network Administrators, Server Administrators, and Helpdesk Personnel.
2. Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
3. Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
4. Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines.
5. Evaluate projects requiring network support to assess project feasibility and requirements.
6. Evaluate the organization's technology use and needs and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades.
7. Manage backup, security and user help systems.
8. Prepare and review operational reports or project progress reports.
9. Purchase necessary equipment.
10. Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
11. Monitor and diagnose network, hardware, and software problems.
12. Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
13. Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
14. Administers Email/Active Directory/Firewall/Virus Protection
15. Trouble-shoot issues as they arise deploy well planned solutions that integrate into the overall architecture
16. Leverage best practices in change management, release and upgrade management and security management
Technology:
. Proven Active Directory management experience
. Hands-on experience with Enterprise networking hardware (preferably Cisco ASA firewall and Catalyst switches)
. Proven knowledge in standard networking concepts including VLAN, VPN, IPSEC, DHCP, and DNS
. Network and server monitoring software
. Windows 2003 server, NT, 2000, and XP.
. Transaction security and virus protection software
. VMWare ESX, HP Blade Server, HP SAN
. AIX Experience a plus
. Best practices experience in overall infrastructure and data center management.
Minimum Education, Training and Licensing Requirements
BS in Computer Information Systems or equivalent required. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Manager role is preferred. Specific experience in manufacturing or distribution environment desirable.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for an office environment although occasional visits to the manufacturing facility will be required. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and role requires the ability and willingness to travel when necessary.
